QR Codes On Cards?

Anyone have a QR code on the back of your card so people can scan to your website? Does it generate any more traffic?

I need to redo my business cards since my original batch no longer reflects the type of work I prefer to do.

I figured I would spend a little more this time and get glossy ones and print both front and back incorporating a QR code.

I don't know anyone that uses those things. You should just put your web address on it and use the space for something else.

Re: QR Codes On Cards?

I have them on my business cards. I can't tell you how many people use it though as I don't track my clicks through them. But I do know when I get other business cards with them I scan them. They also take up less room than a web address and way quicker to get onto your site. I guess you could make 2 home pages one specific to a page fir a QR code then use a redirect to send to your site them you could track how many people click the QR code. I ain't tried this but don't see why it couldn't work.

Or you can just pay a small fee to a QR company to do this. They can give you way more info back.

You don't need to pay anyone anything. Just create a mobile-friendly page on your site, and create a QR that goes to that pages' URL.

Free. And what's better'n free?

That's a good idea. I heard the company's who track them for you tell you stuff like, age, gender, location etc etc not sure if that's possible from your own page.

Not sure about on a business cards but IMO QR codes are a good idea on signs. If they have a smart phone and your business card they are able to access your site anytime. While if they see your sign they might be in a car or walking by so they can click the QR code and be on their way.

I have one on the back of mine also, don't know if it does any good. One sale from it would pay for it though

Re: QR Codes On Cards?

Have YOU ever looked up something with a QR code?

My guess is no, or very very little.

The extra step of starting the app is the thing that makes it useless.

So you can press one button instead of 20 and ones useless lol what does that make typing in a web address.

Re: QR Codes On Cards?

QR is relevant for the 25-40 crowd that does everything with their smart phone. Secondly, it has to be linked to a landing page rather than to your main website so that you can keep their interest with whatever it was that got them to scan your business card.

e.g. if you are a GC that is advertising decks and fences, then a picture of a fancy deck should be the first thing that they see when they scan the QR code.. otherwise they are going to forget why they have your card in the first place.

I'd be careful with that one. Not the QR because having that is not a bad idea at all. What I'm referring to is the gloss and how you print the back. I would advise a small code near the edge. Many people like to write on the back of a card and not providing space or using a gloss so they can't write is an annoyance. Annoyance is not good for business.

Some of the other comments here are amusing. It looks like we have a few people here who think because they don't use QR codes that no one does. That's a risky assumption. But hey, smart phones and Internet, that's just a fad, right?
