I've been trying to get from 500 likes to 1,000 since this thread started in 2010. I'm at 905 likes right now. Getting closer.
I guess you would also be a good person to ask, since your "likes" seem to be up there pretty good. Has this actually turned into a good marketing venue for you? Has it helped ease the need to advertising $$ going somewhere else?

BTW...my brother just moved within 15 minutes of where you live Paul. He may need some stuff done in the future.

I do get work from Facebook. But really I think it's more of a local branding tool. I used to spend over $1,000 a month in advertising. Now I only spend about $200.00 a year for hosting my website and that's it. I get work from my web presence, Van wrap and yard signs.
Of course I had to spend money on the wrap and signs. That was minimal(under $1,000) and four years ago.

That's cool your brother moved here. It's a great area. Did he retire or get lucky enough to get a decent job around here?

His kids are going to university there. The youngest just started, so they wanted to be close. They like the weather and area there anyway. I'm not sure I could handle the summers. It was high 90's in Sept. when my family went to Disney. Feels good on the ol' bones though.

Happy New Year Chris!
As a matter of fact, we were just talking about you the other day.
Care to elaborate?

Facebook is not for everyone, but I think the point Paul is trying to make that this is FREE ADVERTISING if done right.

You must think of Social Networking as in " Going to a party, sparking up a conversation, letting people talk about themselves, and do a subtle plug about what you do ".

From this post I quoted, you had 78 "likes". Now you have 2,226 and I guess I would like to know how much these "likes" have improved your business. Do you do ANY other type of marketing? Or does this generate all that you need?

Re: If You're Not On Facebook, You Should Be.

Ive been following this thread for a while and thought I should tell about recent FB results. I have been trying to promote my page for a few months. My likes increased by 25 and my traffic increased a fair amount.
3 weeks ago my wife said let me try. She posted on her personal page..... Help me get my laundry room remodeled. When my husbands Murrill Construction page gets to 100 likes he will remodel my laundry room. She got me 24 likes in 1 day and my traffic increased by over 100. As a result I have remodeled one of her friends bathrooms right before Christmas and went on my second lead today of her friends for soffit & gutter work from snow and ice damage. So, maybe the secret is your wife's friends.

Great idea, my wife is a hair dresser, and has tons of daily customers.
500.00 and 1 month later I'm still waiting for my web dude to get my website up and get that SEO running.

Youd be better served putting your post cards on her desk. I am always looking for something to look at while getting my haircut.

Isn't that why you pick good looking hair dressers with low cut shirts?

Re: If You're Not On Facebook, You Should Be.

Something I've noticed, when I started my business page I could search my friends list and send an invitation to like my page. But as my likes increased I have to go to the friends by way of what town they live in instead of the search all friends option.

I think I posted my url here one time but I didnt see it on Mix's list so wth here it is again.
