I would really appreciate it if you could help as I am running on a very tight budget and really need some help on how to drive good traffic to my site or even if my site is any good.

I have posted a link to my site and welcome any feed back.

I'm not hear to be your friend so I'll tell you the truth.

Your site looks like it was built by you. It needs a complete redo, I would start from scratch and rebuild.

Traffic + Conversion = Profits

Driving traffic to your website is worthless if you can't convert visitors to phone calls.

You can drive traffic via PPC (Google Adwords) SEO, Media buys, banner advertising, getting listed in online directories, etc....

Re: How To Drive More Traffic To My Site

Before you worry about driving content to your site, you need to figure out whether you website can convert visitors to leads to sales. If your site can't do that, there's no point improving traffic.

Re: How To Drive More Traffic To My Site

Well after some of the comments it seems like my content is not very good and that my website looks like a plumber has built it lol. I thought it was quite good and to the point which would convert any person that came to my into a possible lead.

Any ideas on what I could do to improve my content? I have looked at most of the plumbers in my area and my site seems to have good content but maybe I am wrong.

Help

I see you have quite a lot of competition in Google for Basingstoke plumber. And even with a slick, professionally designed site, which you really should consider, you'll have an uphill battle to move up in those listings.

In the meantime, if you need to work with what you have, then consider pushing your localness. Highlight yourself as the dependable choice that's right around the corner. More than fixtures, put photos of Basingstoke on the site, and pictures of the clean, happy plumbers in your crew.

Set up a free blog with Wordpress or tumblr and start writing short, informative articles about plumbing issues and Basingstoke. And include a link back to your website, of course.

But in the end, set a goal to have your site professionally designed and SEO-friendly.

Good luck joe!

Re: How To Drive More Traffic To My Site

Social media has been exploding everywhere - that could be a great way to drive traffic to your website. While something like Pinterest probably wouldn't be as beneficial to a plumber (Pinterest works better for companies that can visually market their products/services - kitchen designers, flooring companies, etc.), other social media channels could be helpful. Try Facebook, Twitter, and definitely Google Plus!

Re: How To Drive More Traffic To My Site

You may want to have a video made that explains what you do and you can host it on you tube for free and add it to your website. I just had one made for about $225...here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXvAObpn6DE The guy who made it also wrote the script and its his voice as well. I'm not affiliated with him at all but he does good work and he's worked with several contractors, so he understands the industry. Here's a link to his elance profile if anyone is interested.

If you are going to put photographs on your website, make sure they are good ones, most of yours look like they were taken with a cheap cell phone. Better not to have the picture at all than it be a bad one.

Make sure your plurals don't have apostrophes. The plural of toilet is toilets, not toilet's!

And what an imaginative trading name! Let me guess, JC is your initials, am I right? What would have been wrong with using your surname?

Thanks! I was really happy with how it turned out. I forgot to mention that the elance link I provided in my last post has several samples of work he has done for contractors... I thought some of the computer animation in his other videos was very cool.

Love your video by the way! You have some great skills! This is the type of thing that will get shared all over the place and generate some real quality traffic....

Re: How To Drive More Traffic To My Site

Create Youtube videos. Title the video "service" "city" "state" "zip code" and "phone number"

ie: Plumbing Plumbers Salem Oregon 97305 503-555-1212

In the desc. box put your domain address first. Do not use a long address.

Use: http://yourwebsite.com
Never: http://yourwebsite.com/another-page.html

Youtube shortens the link down to the home page on mobile phones. If you want to input a inner page, you will need to create a sub-domain and redirect it to the inner webpage.

After the URL copy your title into the description box and add some additional content.

Quote:
http://yourwebsite.com Plumbing Plumbers Salem Oregon 97305 503-555-1212 Call us today for a free plumbing quote in Aumsville, Stayton, Silvertion, Turner, Keizer, Salem Oregon OR.

Your full business name (THIS NEEDS TO BE THE SAME ALL OVER THE INTERNET):

Plumbing Plumbers, Inc.
123 Market St. Suite 3000
Salem OR, 97305
Fill out the video location. Looks like a Google Map.

Like the video in Facebook, Digg it through digg.com and Tweet it through Twitter. Or just post it here. CT has enough link juice and clout to help anything index in Google quick.

I can (usually) index a video on the front page of Google within 24 hours based on the above.

Hope it helps.

Re: How To Drive More Traffic To My Site

Something I have had great success with on a budget...

Take the top 10 cities you service and make a independent page for them under your service area:

Example JBM plumbing is proud to service the city of Minneapolis, MN is quality installations of.....YADA YADA,

On the page, mention plumbing and all related terms a few times, along with the city and state a few times as well. Don't over kill.

Just remember how google thinks...(Match customer ---- The searcher...with the best solution to there problem)

If you are local, you will not only get increased leads locally but your closing ratio will be higher because they feel your the top dog in each city you make a page for that. Contact me if you want and I could walk you through this or show you how I did it on my sites. Really works great.

Re: How To Drive More Traffic To My Site

If you have a really tight budget, maybe $ 150/month, the best thing to do is to is to find someone to help you doing some local SEO work. The best way for you to rank quickly is to try to target some low competition keywords for your local market. Also you should consider building 3-5 pages that are targeted just for those keywords.
