4k For A Twitter Post?

Hey guys. I had some agency contact me about having Bob Vila post about my business on his Twitter and they wanted $4k for this! I thought that was ridiculous so I told them no thanks. I dont like Vila so maybe I'm biased, but would anyone find that to be a valuable investment? He's got a lot of followers, but how does that help me get enough business to justify spending 4k??

Re: 4k For A Twitter Post?

Even if it were legit, if Vila didn't know your company, why would you want him falsely endorsing your company?

If it came out later that it was just a paid endorsement based on nothing but money, that could potentially be a tangled mess to have to un-twine...

Re: 4k For A Twitter Post?

The problem with Twitter is that it is a real-time network. If you are not online on the day the tweet got posted, chances are very high you would miss them. And if you follow thousands of users, the likelihood of missing a particular tweet becomes even more likely.

If you do decide to go with them, make sure you mutually decide on the time and day of the week the tweet gets posted (also push for multiple postings for the same budget).

Alternately, I think you would be better off advertising on Twitter. With $4000, you can reach out to a wonderful bunch of targeted users.

For a local business this would be useless. How many people local to your company are really going to notice this? Probably none.

There are real sites that sell Celebrity tweets for thousands of dollars. If you sold a product(remodeling) online nationwide yeah this might help sales with a Bob Vila mention. But not a local business.

I know a guy who would post three times, on twitter, for a buck 'n a half.

For ten bucks, he'd reference you on Facebook.

Re: 4k For A Twitter Post?

This one made me laugh .... Who cares about Twitter when it comes to generating leads for contractors ??? ... Why not just have Bob go to the Grand Canyon and shout out your business name there.

I would maybe pay $1 so he could shout my name or business, then I would market a story that Bob Villa mentioned my name. The rest is just sugar coated hype.

Bottom line, first focus on your website, then focus on videos with youtube, and then incorporate Facebook and you will just be fine.

4K ???? For 30 seconds of his time, if that? You can probably get a brand new optimized Responsive Design Website for that price. Bob Villa ??? I'd sooner have your customers tweeting a reference about ya for Free. Probably generate the same results.

Don't fall for hype ... better yet, spend the money on your own vacation to the Grand Canyon, and scream out Bob Villa's name. You will get so much more in return with a fun down time ....

People with loads of followers can charge that, many charge even more. There's no guarantee it will generate leads but probably get you a rise in traffic. It's just the world we live in right now.

If you don't have a website, this probably wont do alot for you to be honest. It will increase traffic which raises awareness, which could lead to more business sure. But this isn't a guarantee anymore than a billboard for $8K is. There a FAR better ways to invest $4K trust me. You could simply invest that amount into a highly optimized webpage, include a few beneficial YouTube vids for your audience and get a much better ROI. I know a guy that will give you advice on this free of charge. Let me know if you need more info! Best of luck to you!
