Pictures Of The Kenan Mansion Visit.....

The board of directors saw my mothers replica smaller versions and fell in love with it. So my mother decided to donate her piece to the center and will be put behind a glass case with lights in the Kenan mansion. So she asked me to come along .she makes all these from scratch and utilizes several different materials to construct her miniature houses.

So last Friday me and my sister met up with my mother and drove over to the center to bring the replica for their acceptance.

Over the next few months they will be working on the showing for the miniature replica and we have a invite back when it's completed.

I was very impressed with the moldings in the main lobby and some other attentions to architectural details that you don't normally see. 7 years ago it was a mess and was falling apart severely. Some private donation (death) was willed to the foundation and they really have fixed the house up but have a ways to go until its all completed, they are doing it in spurts.

Here are some pictures of some work she has done...

These pictures are of her own perception and design on this house:

Simply amazing! Your Mom's work is incredible.
And my favorite part of the Kenan Mansion is the arches and all of the curves at the stairway. The whole place is so groomed and pristine.

Thanks for sharing B,

Re: Pictures Of The Kenan Mansion Visit.....

Now I see where you get the strobe light fetish....

How much for her to make me a haunted house one?

The exterior window trim and the porch details, is that all iron?

Were those windows 10' tall?

Wow ! beautiful place and photos ! Your mother is a very talented person ! Thank you for sharing,Italinate is one of my very favorites styles.

What type of material does your mother use to create her models ? Does she do it by eye or does she have measured drawings to work from ?

Re: Pictures Of The Kenan Mansion Visit.....

Balsa wood, poplar ,clay, plastics, wire, - hobby materials....and lots of tdifferent glues...

As far as the railings- that was a composit material they had another company fabricate. What it used to be was iron and they were disintegrating. The trim is wood. Height of the widows - around 8.5'- Some varied....

Those corbels are huge....pictures don't identify the size to well- 36" profile .

I haven't looked it up, but this one seems mixed - I peg it as Georgian.
