Sweet

I love Wright houses. Wouldn't want to work on them though. The details would drive me crazy.

Re: I Am Stoked & Honored......

Well,

I never got around to throwing up some completed pictures of what we did and will do that, when I get to it....

I spoke with John earlier in the week about the DMH.....
Apparently the money pool plug has been pulled and they are out of capital for the moment. All the rooms need to have the trim refurbished as the same process for what we did before and installed, the basement moldings....same thing...and there is an abundance of it.
It's an on again- off again process........

I hope to get back in there but it doesn't look like that is going to happen for a while.....well see.... however there are some other things cooking on some historical buildings here in Buffalo...., just have to wait and see if it comes to fruition...

I have some photos of the final project completed I will put up over the weekend for those that are interested.......

I don't know how the hell I missed this but that's a killer job and I bet you were loving it. The house reminds me of the Millbrook house Jason and I worked on.

As a younger guy just starting in the trade I would be honored to get to a point where I could work on such an amazing restoration job.

Congratulations to you, it looks great!

Re: I Am Stoked & Honored......

Well,
I just got "The Call".............
Looks like I am going back in to work on the Darwin Martin house,...

with some flexibility allotted to me to keep my business running,,,,,

I was told I would be there for about 12-14 months......this is going to be the "Big Finish"....ALL the molding in the house...all 7.2 miles left I get to play with... its insane....... But I love it.....

Ill have plenty of pictures for you guys so stay tuned.....Ill try and get as many pics as possible. I will get the finals of the secretary's room - its all complete now with furnishings.

Going to be 6-8 weeks before anything happens,...I have prior obligations to meet of my own so as soon as that's finished....hopefully Ill be hanging out at the Martin house with all the snobs that come in to pay homage to the almighty one........

I thought Brian was already nuts

It'll be good to get some closure on the project... good to see it through to the end

Re: I Am Stoked & Honored......

Well,
Started 2-1/2 weeks ago........it's another repeated process with the molding, Strip, plug, flat fill, puddly. The molding was not in the best shape........

The reception room was in much better shape when we did this. The basement molding .....water,moisture......lots of dry rot on the bottom edge of the base shoe molding. The basement molding was actually an after thought originally. I'll explain later...

Anyways,

I will be posting some pictures for those that are interested .

Well,
8 moths later and the project has reached an end. The billiard room and pergola amungst various other rooms has been completed. Today is my last day at the Darwin Martin house and back to all my backed up business. I am taking a week off and will be updating what We did - pictures, some video etc,etc,.......along with the pictures of the finished reception room back from 2012

We will be going back to the house for the last phase - 1st floor and all of the second floor- when who knows, it all depends on the funding. I'll go over all the pictures this weekend and start updating this thread .

this is a huge opportunity and definitely a feather to stick in my hat. I already know it's a very detailed and documented process - I'll know more of what phase we are working on when I talk with John during the week- I am picking up a 3hp 3ph old motor for my American #1 16" buzz planer from him....he's a OWWM freak as well..... it doesn't get any better,.....

Thanks - I had to share the news with you guys, I was busting.I hope some day you as well will have the same opportunity as I have had....

B,
Congratulations again... me and my company just scored a huge 8 month contract for a new 150 apartment complex!! Good things happening...
