It seems that the dimension changes based on the age and hinge on the egg. Going to measure the one he has sometime this week. BTW the customer service at BGE sucks. Sent them two emails – no response in 8 days.

Re: Big Green Egg Questions

I would call two or three egg ''dealers''. Tell them your situation. And ask them to measure one in there showroom. Compare the three.

Also the vent cap on the lid should/might clear the top of the 42'' back wall, Right?

Keep us posted.

Good luck

Good luck
The vent cap on the back will clear the 42" kneewall. With the cap open, 42" lands in about the middle of the top between the vent and the hinge.

Looks nice. Any chance of a picture of the entire deck?

It’s a very small area and real tough to get good pics (plus it’s 12’ off the ground outside those walls). There’s a table and stools that are too big for the area and the HO will be replacing with a better size shortly. Once the new table and stools get there, I will probably have it professionally photographed.

Re: Big Green Egg Questions

Are there any concerns with placing a Big Green Egg on a ipe deck that I am designing. Currently, we aren't planning to, but if it could, it would make things a little nicer.

Re: Big Green Egg Questions

Not sure how hot the bottom of the egg gets. They recommend setting it on stone. This one is on granite.
