What Are The Real Rules For Siding Tear Off

10' plastic horizontal, mist siding, wrap in plastic (bags not needed for larger items like siding), workers wear tyvek suits and p-100 respirators.

What else?

Sounds right, but I'd have to double check my booklet

If you can't go 10' horizontal, then you need to go vertical

But no real requirements for wind blown dust? It won't be windy. Just asking, no additional containment required? We won't be sanding, just prying off siding.

You are mixing OSHA & RRP http://thehtrc.com/2010/rrp-and-osha

No there isn't anything for wind blown per se but I didn't see making sure any windows / openings are sealed - but like you I am rusty at this especially as it doesn't apply to me anymore

What type of siding is it that you are pulling off? With all the rules is a good reason why when putting steel or vinyl siding on the old gets left on. Lots of times no real advantage to removing the old siding.

Removing wood, putting wood back on. Budget allows using best practices. Plus cutting most of the side of the house out for an addition.

Re: What Are The Real Rules For Siding Tear Off

The actual requirements are paperwork requirements. Cover the ground 10 ft out, and close windows and doors within 20 feet takes care of containment.

The work practice is easy, most of the EPA fine schedule is violation of the myriad documentation requirements.

Exterior work, you aren't concerned with dust, just flakes, chips, etc. Make sure yhe stuff is landing on your sheeting.

Only if you want to pick up some added liability.

Around here, I could probably use one of the companies that does RRP certification, and have one of their guys be the one who is certified, and train and supervise the crew for that specific project. Never asked.

Did you notify the neighbors in their native tongue? That part just blows me away.
