Question about the new EPA/RRP Rules

I was late to learn of the new Lead Dust rules compared to most. I first heard some about it from other contractors and also first heard it was for Painters Only, but as a licensed contractor, shouldn't I have been notified by the State or by the Government thru the State?

Did any of you all get officially notified?

Bill

No they will not notify you. This law has been uner wraps and under cover since it was made law, not one HO I have notified this year has heard anything about it. You can check with the EPA as they are the ones running it unless your state adopted tougher laws then your state is in charge of it.

My god man - are you insane??? Do you really want the government to actually function properly, then it wouldn't be a a a bureaucracy - yeah thats the word

Uh no - there is nothing in the requirment for anyone, to inform you of anything - in fact it is completly your responsibility to inform all homeowners. Speaking of that, all the jobs you have done on pre 78 houses since 2008 you can be fined for now (You know that Renovate Right Brochure - yep supposed to be handed out)

Welcome to the wonderful world of the RRP - hurry up and send in your Firm Certification & schedule a class. Once you have completed class, flush everything you were taught & read the regulation for what is actually required...

Quick primer article for you with a link to the brochure and other relevant info.
