Another Sci-fi nut!

You are right. It came from a story written many years ago by one of the great authors of the 20th century: Robert Heinlein: "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". I read that book about 5 times when I was a teenager, along with every other novel he wrote.

Whenever things don't work out, I remind my self of this saying. No one is out there to just give me something. I have to earn it.

Mrs. Tinstaffl, what he says.

Some of my favourites:
John Ringo, Larry Niven, Alan Dean Foster, Pohl Anderson, Heinlein. I have over 2500 pocketbooks in my house, collected since I was 15 years old.

Van Vogt, PK Dick... The list goes on--but seems to get shorter every year. The masters just aren't getting replaced. Not the same stuff, but I also enjoy Terry Prachett and his ilk as well.

Hadn't run across John Ringo before. I see some of his stuff is available online; I'll check him out.

We're well past thread drift at this point.

That would be True North, the Jedi Carpenter.

Wish I'd thought of it first...
