Who Does Screen Repair Fall Under?

A woman asked me to replace several of the screens on her aluminum screen in porch.

It was a little more screen repair than I was prepared to handle, but I had no idea where to direct her and told her I'd get back to her.

Who do you call for this? Window guy? Siding guy? Glazier? Handyman? I'm stumped. Should I just be a man and do it myself?

Most Ace hardware stores will re-screen or make new ones to size.

My glass guys used to do my screens (they stopped that part of their biz - wasn't profitable enough). Now I use a guy who does awnings and screens. Plus like others said, most hardware stores do screens.

They're big "built in" ones so I can't remove just the screens. I doubt my own ability to install a three foot wide screen from a ladder.

They're aluminum but not removable? Are they the type with the rubber spline? I'd say glass shop maybe, but more likely a handyman.

Yeah, rubber spline.

I've done then before but in the shop on a nice table with all the time in the world.

I don't know if I could keep it tight in mid air.

Re: Who Does Screen Repair Fall Under?

I used to get 45 bucks for a new screen and like 30 bucks for a rescreen. Now the hardware store does them for 20 bucks. Not worth my time. I send all my screen requests to them and they send me more then compensatory referrals for glass repairs.
