What Product Do You Think Gouges Us?

I'm sorry...but I just don't see the justification for 14 dollars for a Simpson PABA46...

Those sharp edges might cause a pretty good gouge . Wouldn't chance it...

DEX advertising? I don't know if that's really considered a product. Upsetting at the moment because they're increasing the cost while it's effectiveness is diminishing (fewer calls every month and year).

How could we forget the $300 steam shower light, or the $20,000 website?

Non trade, but what a gouge.

I have an SR Smith diving board on the pool, and one of the white plastic mounting washers cracked. Everything else was fine. Went to the pool store and they wanted $94 for 2 white plastic mounting washers, 2 bolts, 2 nuts, and 4 rubber washers. So I went on line and bought the washers, for $9 each. That was a little bit less of a gouge.

Composite decking,railing,and hidden fastners!

this year im all about wood decking! Ikow what your all saying BUT guess what i sell 5 out of 7 + have contracts to stain them end of season and my profit margin is alive and well!!

composites they dont want to budge on price, i know my supplier makes 40-50% on the product, and i have lower my my rate to make them 40%...NO THANKS>>>THEY CAN KEEP IT, Then when theres a board or 2 that needs to be replaced i gotta take my time and $200 out of my pocket to keep a customer happy and they sit back earning 40% for handling The CRAP!!

LET THEM KEEP IT!!!

Re: What Product Do You Think Gouges Us?

I guess gouging is relative. I'm working on a project next week where the client wants some really fancy mulch for an indoor garden. Well actually it's more of a 3,000sq ft greenhouse/arboretum. Anyway it's shredded teak from Malaysia. My cost on the stuff is $2,000 a yard including shipping.

Some would say paying 2 grand for 27 cubic feet of shredded wood is gouging. Others are into that sort of thing.

Its all relative.

FYI - MS actually has the lowest fees for a software company, they actually had to raise rates to appear to be more competitive with Sun, IBM, etc...
