The title of your thread was "what do you guys think".

I think you suck. Get the work, string the HO's along. Obviously, referals is not your main source of getting work !! You go dude...........

Re: What Do You Guys Think?

shouldn't you do the biggest job first??? If I was going to lose a job cause I'm to busy it sure isn't going to be my biggest contract... Give me grandma's phone number and I'll do the job for you...

Don't get me wrong I haven't always got a A+ on all my jobs. But I have never had a HO call me up and talk to me like that because they didn't know where I was or when I would be back. Keep the HO informed and if they don't like it YOU need to come up another plan. It's just good business.

The OP didn't dispute my ASSUMPTION the lady was a granny...I even offered a second chance at dispute in #6:

So now we can be reasonably sure the OP chimney sweeped the tackle bag. .

Re: What Do You Guys Think?

I am not sure how fine that was!! All this talk about Granny reminds me of that Adam Sandler CD where he was talking about where granny's 'hedge' started.

Re: What Do You Guys Think?

Try scheduling a little bit better. At least you can work year round with indoor work. Landscaping is a 5 to 7 month a year deal up here and I have to make enough to last through winter. I learned the hard way to schedule my time for max productivity.

I can give you a few pointers.

Firstly write everything down. Make lists of everything you need to do on a job, what equipment you need, where to get material, etc. Get it on paper and refer back to it.

Secondly start thinking more efficiently. If I have to go to a nursery in Lewiston or Clarkston for supplies for 1 job I pick up material that I need for other jobs on my schedule. I come back with a loaded truck and stage the material at my house. It's more efficient to make 1 trip than 2 or 3. Those hours add up.

Third is reserve your equipment as far in advance as possible. This is the busy season at the rental yard. I don't count on anything being there unless I have a reservation.

Fourth, have a plan for weather delays. This is especially critical towards the end of the landscape season. Sometimes it's best to work through inclement weather in the early season so I don't get backed as winter approaches.

Hope this helps.
