Some of the wealthier ones have a 10’x10’ skylight that opens in the middle. When I was younger many of the houses had a roof with wheels that rolled out on a track.
Majority still use this one set up on their back decks
Notice:
- cables coming out from the bottom corners
- what appears to be old sunlights on the side
- the loss of roof material below the panels where the rain runs and drops down to roof just above the gutter. So panels are usually in position during weather
- gutter would prevent panel from sliding down
- no room for a panel to slide left, and the right panel would overhang if slides right
So, middle panel probably slides up, or possibly all three
I found out about those after almost falling into an empty one when I could not find a light switch in a basement. I had to build a cover for it since the new owners were not Jewish.
