Spent The Night On Site.

Knotty and I spent the night in the customers house. Yes you heard that right we had to spend the night in the HO house. We went to work yesterday morning it wasn't too bad out. About 30deg and a light snow but brisk 20mph wind. About noon rolled around and it was real nasty out so we decided to head home early. The weather is now 15 deg 50mph winds and snowing like hell. Jump in the truck and make it about 2 miles from the site. Working about 45 miles from home we knew we had a long drive. We head out and blow through one drift about 3' high and 15' long. Get to the top of the next hill state trooper is stopping traffic. There is a 5' high drift about 80' long with a semi, a 4door 3/4 chevy, and a state snow plow, all stuck in this one drift.

After being defeated, we headed back to the customers house. They were very understanding and encouraged us to stay. We stayed until about 5:00 pm and tried to leave again. This time we didn't even make it out of the drive way and we got stuck. After getting the vehicle unstuck we went back inside. The HO saw what was going on started making us dinner and getting us some clean sheets. They were so understanding and accommodating it was very refreshing to have them be so helpful.

They fed us well, homemade chili, corn bread and brownies for desert. We ate like kings. The next morning "today" I made my bed left a thank you note and started to head home. Got stuck in the driveway again, after being pulled out again. We were on the ice/snow covered highway to home. The drifts were bairly passable one lane wide tunnels of snow. Too many cars trucks and semi's in the ditch to count. Estimate around 40 total some on the roofs some on all fours some just roof tops poking out.

The slow 40mph trek was coming to an end as I hit city limits and clear roads. Thank full for the great customers our safety and to see our family's we made it.

That was very awesome of them. When you guys went back to their place for good, did you just keep working? Or was it relax time?

How does one explain to their wife, "oh hun, I'm just sleeping at the HO's tonight"

It used to be an Eskimo custom that hubby would offer to share the wife with a visitor overnight.

Just sayin'...

From what I've seen of Eskimo women, the hubby was probably glad to get her out of the room for awhile

Re: Spent The Night On Site.

Ok, very funny thread.

Reminds me when I was doing a satellite and alarm
system at this custom home in the Sierra Foothills.

Was dark when shutting up the house, too dark to go
to the back and check.

Go and stay at my sister in law's apt.

1st one back to the house in the morning, some friggen'
bear came in through the master slider, emptied the damn
toilet and slept on the HO's bed with white bedding.

White carpets, etc....hauled 'A' for 2 hours scrubbing
the iron rich red dirt before the GC (or anyone else for
that matter) showed up that morning.

What an idiot!
