Re: So Who's Working Monday The 5th?

Just signed a large contract and the earliest I can start is Wed. That leaves Mon and Tues in the home office. Not working, but still working if you know what I mean.

May get out with the fam at some point if the weather is nice!

Re: So Who's Working Monday The 5th?

Working at my house. Been working and playing so much my own place has been a little neglected this year. Need to get all my crap out back(scaffold, ladders, conoes, boats) secured and cleaned up . All clutter to the curb.

If a Hurricane heads this way I have 5 other residences to prep and I'll have my hands full.

Sorry some of you guys have to work but I've been there too.

Happy 4th to all!

Re: So Who's Working Monday The 5th?

Worked 5.5 hrs sat and will work 7 to 8 hrs on monday (instead of 10), didn't know monday was a holiday until yesterday. Would have worked today but work wasn't fun on sat so I need a day off to reset my head and make it fun again.

Where I live its better to just work, so you work or you hide pick one, the 4th and christmas are about as insane as you can get. A county of 35,000 people swells to over 100,000 people. It's fun to be around abnoxious people on vacation, it's even funner to be around people who have second homes who want to spend money on them.

I'll be working on my own house and waiting for this cold front to move through later this week. I just watched the weather and the whole map of the USA was RED Hope everyone works smart this week with the high heat their calling for. Here they are saying it will be the hotest since 2002

It's red because they want you to bundle up and keep warm!

Re: So Who's Working Monday The 5th?

I've decided to be lazy. It will be the last time in a while that I will have to relax so I am going to take the time. After that I believe "balls to the walls" will be my motto. It's gonna hurt as we are heading into a heat wave that is suppose to last 5 days or so. It can get brutal in the shop and I am too old for this heat. Maybe with all the work I have coming in I can force my cheap ass to buy an AC unit.

Enjoy the day off. Maybe you could engineer something for temporary use...

Re: So Who's Working Monday The 5th?

I was thinking about maybe getting a 2 ton 220v unit and sticking it under the garage door. I have 208v at the shop, but I also have a boost transformer to get it up to 220v. I use this boost transformer on my tablesaw as it is the most used pc of equipment in the shop. I could Use it temporarily on the AC unit so it doesn't struggle with the low voltage. Eventually I'd like to get a 2 or 3 ton split duct unit for the shop. The 2 ton is much more efficient than the 3, both could supplement the heating system in the winter. I believe a heat pump would be more cost effective than a propane Modine heater, which is what I run for heat now.

My CA went out at home today, compressor wouldn't kick in, so I went and bought an LG window unit. It took me 1 1/2 hours to assemble it, modify the sill to accept the case, (Andersen 200 series) and get it plugged in. Just for the hell of it, I turned the CA back on and the compressor kicked on. I'm halfway happy and halfway pissed. Anyway, the window unit may end up in my kids game room in the garage.

Re: So Who's Working Monday The 5th?

Workin' today(5th here allready) and doing side job tonight. I did not even consider it should be a holiday. If the 4th fell on a monday of course it would be. There are three holidays I consider sacred. Christmass, Thanksgiveing and 4th of July. The rest are nice to take off if situation permits but the above 3 are the ones I just feel wrong working on.

Cheers, Jim

Look at the tag on the A/C unit, it may be able to run on 208v.
