Removing Sand From Gravel?

I have a situation I’ve never dealt with before and wanted to get some opinions/suggestions. This home has had a bunch of sand blown into the yard from neighboring vacant lots, and they’re wanting the sand removed without removing the gravel. Any ideas? I tried using a leaf blower and shop vac and neither worked. It seems like a ton of work to take the rocks together and suck up the sand with a shop vac, especially with the landscape fabric under the sand, where the rake keeps snagging.

Any suggestions?

That lot does not look very big, at least from the two pics you provided. This can and should cost them some money to do.

Rent a mini-skid loader (Ditch Witch and Dingo are a couple big brands around here) with a scoop attachment. Scrape those rocks into one big pile in the corner of the yard. Get off the machine or have a helper pull all the messed up/torn up landscape fabric out of the pile.

Rinse the rock pile down with water, in stages, as you use the loader to push them back around the lot. A power washer on low throttle would be helpful here. Put down new fabric first. Finish up with some little hand rake work to smooth it out.

Or... Or... Or... You could remind the owners they live in a phuckin desert and they are likely to have sand in their lives for quite some time to come.

Just put more gravel on top for now.

It's going to keep happening every year.

Get chicken wire and create a triangular teepee. Shovel over the top. The sand falls inside the gravel tumbles to the sides.

Continue for the next few months lol

Add a layer of fresh rock on top. Consider the sand to be base material.

Is the blowing sand from construction projects? Looks like the neighborhood is not fully built out. If that’s the case, it’s going to happen again.

Put out a radio signal. Ask aliens to move the house and property to a non sandy area. Or if you are nice, they will install a sand barrier force field in the yard.

Sheesh, the stuff people worry about.

I looked up to see if "sarcasm/smarta$$ishness" is against the rules of this board. Fortunately, it is not.

Could you vibrate the sand to the bottom? Just wondering.
