Makes you wonder how they come up with the figures... seems to me, increased fines equals increased costs (raises), otherwise how do they come up with the increase if it's supposed to be about their mission...

How do they justify the fines period? If their true objective is for workers safety shouldn't that money go to educating the workers and companies? I mean after all, who does the fine really benefit? Kind of like big tobacco paying millions to the .gov and the .gov keeping it, why didn't that money make it's way back into the hands of the ones affected by the chemicals.
I've never received one piece of literature, one advice for training safety or one visit prior to a violation visit. Have any of you? I think they are all just justifying their jobs and trying to validate themselves.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for safety but with some common sense.
