NC Building Contractor License Books

Does anyone have the 7 or so books you need to take the NC Building Contractor test? I want to take the test, but the books are $600 if you have them and would like to work out a deal, please let me know.

Re: NC Building Contractor License Books

I took the prep class at the local comm college and don't recall needing $600 in books to take the test. We reviewed what was necessary to study and take in to the exam.

Is your information from a test prep service that wants to sell you books ? The Cont Board suggests several books too. You may not need them all depending...?

I suggest you contact phone / email the instructor at your local CC. Get the CC booklet that's in all the grocery stores or go online. College and Univ staff are there to help the public in general. You can find out the books you need from the instructor. I got mine incl the NC IRC at the CC bookstore, used if needed. I think I paid about $175 for all that was needed. Could have got 1 or 2 addl like How to Run a Business...but the instructor said it wasn't necessary. We went over the material. Including the prep course ($65) and books I know I didn't pay more than ~ $275.

Basically you need to make a call / email the instructor to make $300......? If you can't do that you may need all the books ?

What level test are you taking ? Limited ? Unlimited.

Unlimited, there is far more information to review.

Here's the link. The attachment is too big fot this forum.

Yeah, that is kind of what I was thinking, I was looking at a test prep service that was recommended to me by a friend. I think I will look elsewhere though, hadn't thought of CC's, thanks for the suggestion

Re: NC Building Contractor License Books

Thanks, PSI (the people who give the exam) have 7 books listed that total $343 if you buy from them.

Thanks for the help, we fix...oddly enough, JJ Johnson was where I had seen that the books were $590. I'm looking around the site a little more now though
