Looking For GC Exam Reference Books

I am preparing to take the GC exam in April and I am looking to purchase the most up to date GC exam reference books. I live in Tampa, but I commute back and forth to Orlando for work. If anyone is willing to sell their used exam reference books to me for reasonable price, please send me an email at [email protected]

Re: Looking For GC Exam Reference Books

I have looked on Craigslist and I haven't found any yet that are the most up to date. I do not need all of the books, mainly the code books, Florida Building Code 2010-Building, Florida Building Code 2010- Residential, and Florida Building Code 2010- Accessibility.

You can purchase GC books on Amazon and have them shipped to your door.

In Florida there is an exam you must pass in order to get your license to be a contractor, not just GC but subs too.

TAHomeRepairs:

Specifically, you have to pass three exams to get a General Contractor or Building Contractor's license in Florida with a minimum score of 70.

They are open-book tests, but the books are $900.00 and the tuition at the test prep school is $1,100.00 in addition to the $200.00 application and other fees.

A Michigan contractor sent two employees on separate occasions without the school and each failed. Third try with the school and he passed. I've been in construction my entire career, had a 3.62 GPA in college, and can't imagine passing without the class. I got a 76, 82, and 83 on my first tries.

Just wanted to say that there are some of us who pass on the first attempt, without any prep school.
My test was two parts; business/law and the trade exam
