Interviewing With A GC Today, Wish Me Luck

well I'm interviewing with a GC today so I can get into steady work and not have to run my own gig and drive 120 plus miles a day with 4 buck a gallon gas. Yeah Cali is great, Grrrr.

Good Luck! Let us know how it goes.

California is a tough jungle for sure. Plus, we seem to have fires in the refineries every.single. time. we switch to summer blend, resulting in those sky high prices. Strange, huh?

However, we get to work all year round, so there is that.

87 is nearing $4.00.

I use 89 octane, so I am running around $4.19/gallon. Outrageous!

I think 87 is around 2.75 here. Haven't paid much attention. Know it's under 3

Got the job, hiring primarily as a finish but with my background I could be asked to do any number of things. Looks like a nice steady 40 a week. Good starting pay for Cali and room for raises. Can't ask for much better. Pretty happy. Company is super busy with a lot of jobs happening and they do nice high end work.

Congratulations! Looks like you go what you were looking for and the bills will be paid. Don't bury your entrepreneurial spirit though. At some point in the future, you may be ready again to forge on your own.

Unreal. California has been racketing us for gas since the 70's

Yeah, it will be nice to take a break from the headaches and watch someone else have them instead.

Thanks, not a fan of LA freeways and toll lanes lol. Funny how the state builds pay to play then the damn things fill up then what? Everyone's ****ed, just like before. Just a ****ing racket for the State to make money. Doesn't have a damn thing to do with "easing congestion" just screws the single working guys in trucks like us.

It is hard to find good help for sure. I've been lucky with my crews. Pay them right, treat them like family and I can sleep at night knowing I don't have flaking to deal with in the a.m.

What kind of guys are you looking for?

Iím looking for a working super or lead carpenter. Iíve posted on Craigslist and Facebook and I canít find anyone that will show up longer than 2 weeks let alone someone with real experience. Last guy decided after 1-1/2 to go on a bender. I have a stack of resumes to go through this week so Iím hoping something will come out of it.

You just walk into job site and ask if anyone is looking for work?
