I did deserve that.

Everything went well. I ended up having a great conversation with the father about life and art. Lasted right up until the plumber got there.

This is why I don't work indoors. I hate tip toeing around anyone. Outside I can play music and throw out an F bomb if I want.

I hate when the kids are home.

No time for the wife and I to...ah...to...you know.

Stupid kids.

I feel extremely weird about that stuff too.
One time I was really tempted to change my oil in their heated garage while waiting on somebody. They were away for the week while I was doing the install. Never would have known. Still felt like it was crossing a line though. Ha

That's great in your kind of weather, but what happens when it's below 50deg outside? Do you do inside work so you don't freeze to death?

Re: I Hate It When They're Home.

I usually don't care if they're home but the worst is bad parents with kids. Last year I had a job where the wife was home everyday with a screaming 1yr old. Go ahead and let the kid screw around in my shop area, lock me out of the door I need to go through because the kid keeps trying to get out. Go ahead and put crap in my way everyday. Let the 4 other kids run around the house where I'm working. Go ahead and invite all your family members over. While your at it go ahead and bitch about the cost of all the work you're adding.

I took what I considered final payment, told the husband to straighten out his wife and take care of your screaming kids otherwise I'm not coming back.

My clients normally go out of their way to make my job as easy as possible. These clients just weren't worth the hassle.

I've never had it that bad, but I've definitely seen the kids running into the work area. Like look, any of these tools could ruin this kid's life. He can not be in here.
Scary stuff.

No worries... people use to sleep on hay and then stuff mattresses with them...

Where do you think the phrase "sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite" came from?

Couldn't have said it better myself. I sometimes purposely get to a job site early, just so I can make phone calls, send emails. Its all about using your time wisely.
