How Much Does His Load Weigh?

Took a pic on my way home. Can any roofers out there give me a rough estimate to what weight he is carrying? The tires were almost flat on the bottom. He was pulling out onto an expressway too. Idiot.

Re: How Much Does His Load Weigh?

His wheel bearings will never be the same again. I hauled a little over a ton of hotmix blacktop in a Ford Ranger once. Scary. Hardly any steering whatsoever. Couldn't go over 35 and still stay in the lane.

I put 2 tons of sand in the back of my dually once, and my truck even squatted a little.

moron....because taking that "additional trip", wasn't worth saving the suspension, and possibly more...

I’ll bet his power steering was working superbly.

I used to tow cars when I was in high school, we had a Ford 150 or 250 with the tow unit that fit in the standard bed, anyhow any time you towed a large front wheel drive car (Eldorado, Toronado, Riv, etc.) from the front those front wheels would be floating all over the place.

If you add those helper springs you can load them up, but not that much.

Re: How Much Does His Load Weigh?

Looks like a half ton truck to me. My F250 holds a pallet no problem that is more than a pallet but sitting on the ground.Brothers F350 SRW barely sags with a pallet and my old Chevy dually big block would handle two pallets with alot of sag. My new F450 handles two pallets and then some no problem. I have seen same size loads in Toyotas around here.

Re: How Much Does His Load Weigh?

What a idiot, thats go to cause some damage. One of my dads friends wanted to borrow the tractor, he had a freind with a ford F350 roll back come over to get the tractor. The tractor wouldnt fit, he was going to try to haul over 10,000lbs on that ford.

Way to plan ahead. My supplier will deliver any size load next day for $55. It would cost me more to drive there, load it up, and drive back.

Back in High School I loaded 8 of my wrestling buddies in my Mustang II, on our way to a meet. We whent up on the side walk at every left turn and almost bounced off a few cars on the right turns. This was before, and maybe why, they started getting so strict about teenage drivers.

I was just thinking, have any of you had a freind or relative say hey, can I borrow your pickup some time this week? Now you know what they will do with it.

I loaned my one truck to a little league team for a few hours. I saw it going past my house a short while later with a huge poly water tank on the back, half full of water. A teen was driving it. I'm sure the sloshing around must have really screwed with his driving. I got the truck back in one piece, though.

I got pulled over by the cops for that in high school (I think we were heading down to Chicago Fest, remember that Chicago folks), although one of the guys was in the trunk (the biggest one) with the lid open. He made everyone get in the car, I think it was more dangerous with all of us in the car, we were like sardines before we had to pack George in.

Re: How Much Does His Load Weigh?

Forget about the truck...HOW MANY LIVES did he jeopardize doing this?

Improper Braking capabilities
Lack of Steering (huge under steer risk)
Tire Blowout

Re: How Much Does His Load Weigh?

That's much crazier than the loads I carry sometimes. I've never put anything in a truck to squat one like that. I watched a guy put a 3' x 3' box in a truck that nearly had the bumper touching, Then he tried another box same size. Flipped his springs.
