HAHA Air Conditioner Thieves Getting Federal Charges For Refrigerant "Freon" Venting

EPA has found a new target market. Criminals.

Until now, they've been going after contractors and waste management companies, but now they're going after criminals who vent refrigerant into the air while stealing A/C units.

The Federal government is trying to slap some serious charges on tree men and a woman from Georgia area for environmental crime for improper tear down while stealing 35 or so air conditioners. These charges are much more heavy handed than the theft charge itself.

I suppose the next set of thieves will learn to steal a recovery system first, recover refrigerant, then steal the A/C. Especially since R-22 will be going up in prices over the next ten years or so.
