GPS Reverse Camera Bluetooth 2 DIN Head Unit?

Iím just starting the search and looking for suggestions:

2015 E 350 box van

- I donít really listen to satellite radio or podcasts, so thatís not an issue

- Not concerned with watching DVDs or listening to CDs

- I would like AM radio for college football games.
- need connectivity with phone for navigation. Bluetooth preferably.
- a Back up camera when put into reverse for focusing on the hitch. (I will have another camera at the windshield/mirror spot for constant rear view)

- a Bluetooth mic for calling and texting via voice

Whoís got what, and what could you recommend?

Re: GPS Reverse Camera Bluetooth 2 DIN Head Unit?

I have 4 cams on my war wagon. Three across the back and one over the passenger door. They're all on a dash switch (not the backup lights). The monitor has a 4-way split so I can see all four at once. Makes changing lanes much safer since I don't have a side or rear windows.

Don't recall the brand as I bought it like 10 years ago.

I have a nice one on my van that shows up on my radio screen. I can't remember the brand. It came with the radio.

My GPS has a built-in camera does all the usall stuff but you can add a rear camera.
Then just go to Wally's World for a cheap 2 din radio (did the box not come with a cheap radio).

My GPS with the built in camera cost $55.00 E Bay.

I just got one, I have two cameras connected, Bluetooth mic is external and works infinitly better than the stock built in mic. Mine is a Kenwood, I will check the exact model. Touch screen, double din, Android auto etc.

This one had apple car play wired and wireless. I think it's a DMX9706S.

No NAV no dvd.

Re: GPS Reverse Camera Bluetooth 2 DIN Head Unit?

What ever we buy when it comes the latest and greatest with techy stuff it's out of date by the time we get home.
Now with cars I am dead against all the clever stuff some we have no choice in.
The big deal is when that stuff goes wrong it's costs a fortune to repair tech that's often outdated, a lot of the electronics talk to each other and even a head upgrade can cause problems.

My wife got a new car in March and we just got the bear minimum in tech, back up camara and sync the phone.

This will be my wife's last new car all being well she just turned 1000.00 miles.
So the very last thing we wanted was to own a car that could become a pain if the tech went South.
So these days all that bling in the dash means squat to me.
8 track players cassette players cd players had them all.
Betamax player, vhs player, blue ray player, built in disc player in a TV, as well as a regular disc player, sound surround systems a couple.
Projection tv, flat SCREENS, the first one not so smart.
Lost count of cell phones first one 1985, then computers, printers etc.

My first GPS $1000.00 not that long ago I am on my 4th.

What am I trying to say all this tech marches on real quick.

You need a wake up call look how long it took from a place called Kittty Hawk to walking on the Moon

Now the chip that's in a CD player has more computing power than the Apollo rocket.

I now feel most electronics are disposalbe I had a shop radio that was a Bose in truth was it worth the 5 bills it cost I don't really know but I do know for a whole lot less a trip to Radio Shack would have got some pretty good tunes.
.
I'm good with Pandora and a $55.00 GPS with a dash cam.

I really can't help you. I have the stock radio. No GPS, don't need it where I'm at.

I have a cheap back up camera on the trucks. Just replaced mine a couple weeks ago, with the exact same cheap one. Mine had stopped working for some reason. Threw it away and spent another $70. It lasted several years.

I set up this in my transit. No gps. Apple CarPlay transfers maps etc from phone to head unit and separate mirror camera. Works awesome and makes the can a pleasure to drive.

The rear view mirror stays on all time. In reverse the head unit shows the factory camera.

Crutchfield used to carry that Rydeen backup camera/mirror. I'd at least read the 1 review before going forward. They since discontinued it. Maybe they resolved the issues?

I donít have as many issues as the 1 review I read in crutchfield but at night the lights do kind make it useless. Sometimes there is a reflection during the day but it is from the shiny partition in my van.

Re: GPS Reverse Camera Bluetooth 2 DIN Head Unit?

I recently read good reviews about the Alpine Halo 9 which has Apple Carplay (a requirement for me). It's a diff configuration, but may work for a standard double din opening.

Update. After I read that review i started noticing how much reflection I was actually getting. Went on amazon and biught a generic anti-glare screen cover for a laptop and cut it to fit. Absolutely no reflection now. Obviously it wonít work as a standard mirror now, but I have a cargo van with no windows so it doesnít matter for me.
