Uhhh, i give you gas money up front, a couple bucks cash halfway for lunch's and when your done i will think about the quality of work to see if i want to pay you or not. Oh, and i want a discount on yer labor rate, i want to pay for materials with my credit card and when yer done i want a copy of insurance and a warranty.

I would ask for 60% to start 60% half way and refund 20% at the end of the job

It is a free market. If you don't like the customer's payment terms walk away. If they don't like your terms they can walk away. It is a beautiful thing.

Might have to add another 20% on there for servicing the wife in certain scenerios
