Garage Door Opening Trim Detail For Fuax Stone Siding

Looking for some advice or pictures on dealing with trimming out a garage door opening with fuax ledgerstone siding butting into it.

Having a house sided right now and customers have been back and forth about running hardie plank up to garage opening vs doing a stone detail around the opening as an accent. I stopped by the job today and looks like it'll be the latter. Siding guys don't want to deal with it, which is fair enough because neither they, myself or the customer know what the customer wants to use.

No big deal for me to smart trim the opening out to match the other cornerboards/windows etc. But I haven't used fuax stone before and am looking for any insight on best practice.

Because there is only about a foot on either side of the garage opening that will receive stone, I don't want to eat up another 3" casing it. I think my only/best option is to run the liner out far enough to capture the outside edge of the stone and leave it at that. Without knowing the thickness of the fuax stone, I'm guessing that makes the liner material 5/4X10 ripped to size.

This is one way I've seen it done locally... This is on that big house out at Tobiano. I think you're right about just terminating the jamb at the face of the stone :

I just have a rough sawn pine wrap put on over the 2x jamb. Face it with a 2-1/4" wide face board made from a rip.

Just gives it some distance from the R/O so it looks better and gives the caulkers room to run a big fat bead.

I'll try to remember to take a pic of one tomorrow.

Thanks Adam, that's exactly what I was thinking, it helps to see a picture of it. I was thinking it was going to look a little underwhelming but that's a nice tidy finish. Are you still out in Tobiano? How's it looking out there?

thanks smalltownguy, I, tend to agree that using something even as narrow as 2 1/4 gives it a bit more dimension and I do like the idea of keeping the stone back from the opening for aesthetics. Caulking is another question I have about the fuax stone, I wasn't sure how to deal with waterproofing that but I guess once we land on a product their installation directions will answer that for me. would love to see a pic if you grab one.
