OP, welcome to CT.

Mike is the top deckbuilder here.

As an exercise, walk through a flush beam freestanding deck with roof and railing, you'll see where the issues come up. From there, it's all ledger and attachment.

Being a few inches out of square doesnt sound like that big of a problem after seeing some of the problems in this thread but I'd still make sure to get your sono tubes dialed in before going any further.

I've only built a half dozen or so decks in my life but...being "a few inches" out of square sounds like a big problem to me.
