Re: Drywall Eating Parrot

I was part owner (3) of a house we built at a country club. Beautiful place. The main guy had two of some kind of birds that literally destroyed everything. They were allowed to roam at will. It was bad enough that I threatened to sue to get myself off the mortgage.
That's how it ended up...I won.

Very few animals keep other animals to entertain them. What you just said up there is the same as saying the mouse or rat or roach that lives in your house likes it because it keeps getting free food. The mouse could leave but why??? I learned when I was young how wrong IMO it was to keep non domesticated animals in captivity. Every thing wants to be free. I freed myself! Don't get me wrong,, keep any animal you want but fight for the children!!!

Re: Drywall Eating Parrot

A lot of birds live where they're born unless they're driven off. Chickens, pigeons, etc.
You don't have to feed them or pen them in, they'll stay. Migratory birds do the same thing, return to their nesting place and birth place year after year.

Eagle spent the summers free ranging. Every day when I got home, he'd run or fly to me and hang out. Flew up into the grill once when I was cooking to see what I was doing, but I kept her from being burned.

You have some fundamental misunderstandings of animals.

What if a bird thinks its a dog. Does that men they were self-domesticated?

What do they mark on the census?

_Bird
_Dog
_Other

No I really don't .. If you stop feeding a free range animal it will more than likely leave. The wild pig keeps coming back because it know it can get food

That was some years back,, I think the 2x4s needed to be a bit longer to reach the ridge,,, not sure but there was a reason.

We don't feed the guinea fowl, this is their territory. As long as they can eat seeds and plants within a few hundred yards, they'll always come back and roost in their tree and take dust baths in their dirt holes.

Chickens will do the same thing, and so will pigeons.

Robins come back year after year and build their nests and raise their young in the exact same spot.

It's their territory, their home.

Yes I know that,, not the same as keeping a parrot. I think it you that doesn't know about birds.
The pigs will keep coming back to, for the papaya in the trees. and to root around.

You thought only dogs should be pets, the others will leave if you stop feeding them.

I just spent time for the past few days hanging out with a guinea. The rest if them decided they should kill him. He was pretty excited to have the company. He'll come over to see me. Guineas aren't vet sociable like that, not like chickens or horses. Interspecies cooperation, friendship, what ever you want to call it, is pretty common. I don't think one being a person really makes a difference.

I don't know Jack about parrots, I never had one.

Look you are right,, but missing the whole point here... I know exotic animals should be left in their own environment. I've had many exotic animals from tegus to snakes to birds.
