I better finish this drywall soon- if my bird can find any edge of paper, she peels it back. As if I wasn't bad enough at finishing drywall, now I have some extra work...
I think I'd do a lot more than that if I were condemned to standing all my life when I was designed to fly the forest.:whistling we have parrots fly free here.
I don't advocate caging animals or anything like that. This is a bird I found on craigslist who was a pet that people didn't have time for. I would never pay someone to breed domestic animals for a person's entertainment
Those are ringneck parakeets. They are out of control here and doing lots of damage on Kauai to the crops. We have flocks of cockatoos and some kind of green amazon parrots too. Yes they are loud. But the the chicken is the state bird and are every where. I don't hear rooster crowing where i'm at now.
We had a set of parakeets that we only caged at night. They stayed in one room and we had a perch setup in the corner of the room that they would stay on most of the time. They actually chewed through the drywall in one area so you could see the cavity behind it. This was after chewing all the wall paper off in the general area as far as they could stretch from the perch.
Funny thing, there was a chicken that had a birth defect and couldn't walk. Spent most of its life in a box with a custom sling, so it could see everything going on. Little water cup and f[d cup mounted on the box
It went to work with my gf, and would be on the counter. It was so happy it sang like a song bird.
We had a wild rooster around here that survived at least 5 years on its own . We have a lot of predators too ,including coyotes ,foxes , bobcats ,etc...
This particular bird was an anomaly, and I doubt he would survive a Maine winter.
I was part owner (3) of a house we built at a country club. Beautiful place. The main guy had two of some kind of birds that literally destroyed everything. They were allowed to roam at will. It was bad enough that I threatened to sue to get myself off the mortgage.
That's how it ended up...I won.
Yeah, it's pretty sad to see how many birds and other animals are being kept as pets by people who don't understand how much attention they need. Parrots are pretty social and needy and they suffer a lot if they're left alone or ignored for long
I think they have to take a test or something .....
