Drop Ceiling Install With HVAC In The Way

I can't figure this one out Guys, I have a client that is requesting me to rock both sides of basement ceiling with an 8' span in between to be Drop ceiling to cover HVAC duct work. I was planning the tile distibution and the only way to make it look right is to have the main runner directly in the middle of the HVAC Return.

Problem is that I have nothing to connect the grid wires to. The duct is completely in the way and my first efforts to place a grid wire on both sides and triangulate it down to the main grid runner have failed.

My only other idea was to box the duct with a 2X2 and connect the wire hanger to that.

All advice welcomed.

Run your runners the other way and put your T's under the duct. It aint rocket science.
