Re: Cultured Marble...

Granite today is fairly cheap in general since everyone with a grinder has a Granite shop and I see Granite trucks in the area from all over the place .

I always get the undermount cutout. So for just over $200 you can have a tight fitting sweet ass counter top with new sink.
not here for $200

This is probably one of the smallest bathrooms I've been in. Shower, vanity and toity. Room for 1 only.

If you special order that size from Lowes or HD, what do you figure the cost of each will be?

The fabricated price is $15/sq ft for small remnants, $25/sq ft for large ones. $125 for the UM sink cutout. They’ll do backsplashes too for the same price. I’m told they’re just happy to get some money for the remnants which they’ve already made their profit on.

Re: Cultured Marble...

This is the top.

And the back story.

A friend of mine and a quality cabinetmaker for 30 years made the vanity and medicine cabinet for them probably 18 years ago. The lacquer finish started to peel off soon after he installed. He took everything back, refinished and re-installed. I've questioned him about possible silicone contamination etc and he said he had those bases covered...so why the finish chipped off is still up for grabs. I'm thinking 2 long, hot and steamy showers everyday didn't help...being such a small room. There is an exhaust fan but....

I'm going in to sand the cabinet, apply a couple coats of wax-free shellac and then a couple coats of exterior latex in a coordinating blue color.

I just spoke with her and we will be going to a big box to order the top, less the backsplashes. I'll be tiling there.

I think (knowing the cabinetmaker) he put some pretty good torque on the drain stop. Time will tell.

Re: Cultured Marble...

IF you feel good about cutting on the top. Get a 31" x 22" and cut a towel holder on the left.
