Crappy Neighbor!!!

I'm kinda hacked off. There is remodeling going on next door and they didn't even give me the chance to get a bid in. The guy next to me is a contractor as well and he said they didn't talk to him either. Even worse is that the guys are from across the river in Texas.

I'm thinking they don't like me. It was my wife's house til I moved in with her. I suspect him of breaking in while she wasn't here. It stopped once my dog and I started staying here.

I would never hire my next door neighbour. Too much potential for things to go ugly. It's hard enough being neighbours sometimes wihout getting money and work involved.

Re: Crappy Neighbor!!!

Don't take it personal, but like others said, you a neighbor and they want to ruin that relationship... Do what everyone else does in cases like this, being a concern neighbor who is contractor.... go next door with a 6pack and tell your neighbor they doing everything wrong and tell them how the guys on CT would have done it ...

Then why would you want to do work for him?

My husband does work for a lot of our neighbors and it hasn't caused any problems. They keep calling him and refer him to their families, so he would miss out on a lot of work if he said no neighbors.

Anyone else hear that noise? Sounds like a siren.

Oh, here comes the Waambulance.

Just joking around. It does sting to see work close to home go to someone else. But it just wasn't meant to be. Let it go

Re: Crappy Neighbor!!!

consider it a blessing.. why would you want to get involved with a neighbor... never do business with friends or neighbors my friend. thats probably why he never called you. i had a neighbor do his roof with another company and i am fine with it.

Re: Crappy Neighbor!!!

Maybe the contractor is a friend of theirs? Maybe it is a relative? I have learned not to let that kind of thing bother me. I see others do it around me and to me it just shows greed or self entitlement. I just keep my head up and keep looking for the next job instead of worrying about what someone else is getting. Who knows, maybe that contractor will get boned on a job you never got. As one fella on here says, "never lost money on a job i did not get".

Re: Crappy Neighbor!!!

and maybe the guy is going to jerk the contractor around when it comes time for payment and 'good faith' change orders. We just saved you the hassle of coming to CT and asking advice on how to get the rest of your money from a scumbag neighbor!
