The person posting that ad probably makes 8.50 at Wal-mart, so they don't think $14 is a bad wage. There have been times 3 years ago when I would have been glad to make that, in fact I probably would have worked for $5 if I could have found someone to hire me. On the plus side I learned a lot of frugal habits, I can eat well on $17.50 a week :-) Glad those days are over, I have been turning down major jobs almost on a weekly basis.

A guy I've done a bunch of miscellaneous work for asked me if I'd lay the floor tile in his new cafe/pie shop. It was 1100 sq ft of 1" hexagon tiles with a staggered pattern and perimeter border. I agreed to do it for $2500. Definitely don't have a lot of experience bidding tile! They paid $22/ft for the tile! I don't know what they were thinking. Good price on labor though! Ouch

I hear ya. I did that recently, underbid a project. My bad! should never do the bids late at night when I'm 1/2 alseep. I didn't say a word to the client, I just did the job. Another business lesson ouch.

Nah, the union that hates "scabs" but I might have this poster confused with a different poster. One that loved the union and was so pro union but then was doing side work...

If that's not this user I apologize.

The best one I saw on Craigslist was a contractor willing to trade work for a BOOB job for his wife

That's a good one for the barter section. I'd live to see how that boob job turned out!
