Re: Crane Splits House In Half Today!

I'm willing to bet that the damage done is far more substantial than some sheathing and roofing, especially since this is a finished house

After being in some houses this year after a big local storm and after hurricane sandy it all depended on the direction of the fall. Perpendicular to the ridge = not real bad, for every degree from perpendicular it got worse. Parallel to the ridge = disaster. Many times the entire roof structure was pushed off the house or folded like a box.

Re: Crane Splits House In Half Today!

There's no doubt that it could have been worse.

They still have to get the crane off the house ,too

No doubt! They removed it. But the house is condemned until inspections can be done.

Yes. It went right through the top plate.

The news tonight showed a neighbors security cam the moment the crane fell.
