Cheap Labor

Was picking up some small bits today from lowes. See these mexicans hanging around outside. Prob about 10 of them in total in the one vehicle. See another contractor I know and he said they have been at it all day. He said there's one main guy who speaks English asking customers leaving lowes if they want any work done. The guy goes back to vehicle grabs a couple of them and sends them off with the customers leaving lowes and they goto the job in the customers vehicle. He said they have a bucket with a mixture of tools and that's it. There were about 10 more in the store when I was in there just hanging around. All of them had to use the self checkout as they couldn't speak a word of English and used the Spanish setting on the machine. They didn't bother me when I left though. The main guy just gave me evils as I walked past the truck. Better not start seeing more of this going on around here.

I have only seen a couple here and there at the crepot and lowe s around here. I'll cringe the day I see a bunch hanging out in front!

Re: Cheap Labor

I'm surprised this happened. For the last 20 years, we've been told there's only 12 million. Has something changed since 1990?

We've been conned and it's still running........

Re: Cheap Labor

I live in san diego, i see it all day long..on the freeways, streets, HD parking lot, Lowes Parking Lot.

Ended up working on a crew of about 12 guys when i first moved out doing painting, had a couple brag to me about how they just bought SSN off their buddies for $100 bucks. Theres so many on the books with fake documentation here its sickening. People seem to turn a blind eye.

Govt really doesnt give a rats azz

Re: Cheap Labor

It's not been too much of an issue. They normally hang about outside on pimped up scooters and look for work then ride to the work. This is on a whole different scale though. Heard there was another bunch at HD also doing the same thing down the road. Prob come here for a couple days. Rob the customer blind and then move onto another area.

Re: Cheap Labor

It realy pi55es me off that most everyone turns a blind eye to the criminals that Illegals are reguardles of who or what they are......when you sneak into a country your a criminal.
last I saw it was between 5 to $8000 to get coyotied in, for less then that they can learn english and do some paperwork and come in as citizens. The ones sneaking in are unedumacated I suppose so they cannot pass the test?

We have so many here they dont hang out at the boxstores, they have yobs. Our former guvner gave em driver licences. Some people are waking up here tho and refusing service due to lack of comunication issues even tho we have been warned that we can get into legal issues....WTH

Is that several 1000's per person? If so how do they come up with that kind of money?

Re: Cheap Labor

From what I've heard, it's between $3500 - $5000 for a one way trip. And they get the money by working jobs for cash and living with 10 guys to a small house and sending all their spare money home.

Re: Cheap Labor

Must be some very trusting customers in your area. I don't know of anyone who would take a couple of strangers to their home in their own car, even if the work was free.

I lways assumed they had to pay upfront, no installment plan.
5,ooo is what I think I read some were charged to be brought over in a fake UPS truck. I did not know if that was per person or for the group.
