Can Anyone Help Me With This? How Is This Attached?

I've cleaned out the holes, but I'm not seeing any screws or bolts.

Is this perhaps one of those where the entire cover screws on?

Is too heavy to just lift without equipment imo.

No, I think it's an 8".

Usually, there's a couple of bolts that unscrew, or else the whole lid spins.

It's got significant rust on it.

I need to block the sewer to water test the new drain lines.

If I can't get in there, I'll cut the line under the building and add a combo to stick my plug into.

It should just lift out.

I've run across some that get years of dirt and corrosion along the perimeter that won't budge.

We hit 'em with a sledge hammer while prying with a long bar, usually gets it to break free. When I say hit it with a sledge...I mean hit that s.o.b. not in the center but around the edges.

To me, it looks like those indents are ready-made for a wrench of some sort to screw it out.

I'm sitting here at the dealer getting the oil changed on my truck, so I have some time to ponder this before I head back over there.

I think I've eliminated the possibility that it bolts down, so maybe I'll just wail on it a little more.

Yup like a spanner wrench, with lugs that fit into the notches. I'd try a hammer to a block or screw driver or even chisel in the notch and see if it turns. Even if it's just rusted in the lateral forces might loosen it some.

Re: Can Anyone Help Me With This? How Is This Attached?

Thanks guys.

Victory is mine. But I did beat up a crow bar pretty good in the process.

It ended up being a pop off. But I did turn it to loosen it, so everyone was right.

Thanks again.
