Builders Convention

Just got back from the annual trip to AC's Builders Convention. Attendance 30% engineering firms, 20% Lawyers, 20% split between kitchen distributors and lumber companies and fixture manufacturers, 10% Helical pier equipment sales, 15% contractor trades, and remaining 5% media... It seems it's getting worst every year.

But the good thing you get to see many old faces you been dealing with being in business all these years, check out a few new products which were brought to the show from Canada. Kohler had a bus in there set up with new innovative toilets they came out with... Especially one which retails for about 6k and I gotta tell you, if a women sits on that toilet, she will never get off, I call it "the fountain of youth..." One guy came up and said what is this... I told him this a new toilet you don't have to take your pants off anymore when you use it... his wife burst out laughing... Cannot describe in words what this toilet does, I cannot imagine what our kids be dealing with after we're gone. Here is a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8jCP_-oBgQ

Other then that Atlantic City looks like s^*t, everything is closing, the only happening places are Borgata and Harris Hotels. Speaking of happening, hit $100 Black Jack table, after playing about 5 hours going up and down, finally 4am I walked away with $1,800, so it was a good drive home. Looking forward to the next year convention.

Re: Builders Convention

A remote control!
So if I hide the remote, and wife gets on the toilet, I can make the toilet do all kinds of stuff while she is a "captive audience".

Greg where is held at the convention center? I was wondering how to fill credits, I thought you needed to sit in seminars while there. Every year I say I will go but never make the time. I actually though it was closer to May.

LOL Man, that thing is something else, and you can use it without remote, everything works with sensors.

Tom, you don't have to do anything. I will give you a link next year to get a free pass and they usually have a Hotel break if you wanna stay overnight... all you have to do is get there and enjoy.

You don't have to listen to seminars unless you interested in something but you have to pay for that separately

We use to go every year but like you said it just seems to get worse every year.

Only thing I am looking forward to in Atlantic City is that they are opening up a Bass Pro Shop in a few weeks.

Same here Paul, It's not about the convention anymore, its more about seeing people you haven't seen in a long time, a good friend of my throws a big party there every year, so we hang out and after that I play black jack all night and home the next day.

We have to get everyone from Jersey and PA on here and meet up there one year, it would be nice.

Greg I get the little booklet mailed to me. Did you fill any credits or just go for interest?

Re: Builders Convention

The IBS in Vegas was the largest show since 2008, according to the attendance and exhibitors....so why is your show on the decline?

IBS is International Builders Show, visitors come from all over the place... ours is ABS which is Atlantic Builders Convention, most exhibitors and visitors are locals or located in a close vicinity, like PA,NY,etc. There were a few exhibitors from Canada, Ohio, Utah

I was in Vegas a few times, the last time I was there was for a deck convention, met people from all over the country.

Re: Builders Convention

I have to say that the IBS is almost an overload....with the KBS combined, there is simply too much to see, especially if you attend any of the classes offered. The show could be a week long and you would still not see it all....

World of Concrete is much the same.

Yes, I remember the deck show it was also huge. I'm thinking hit the next show out there again and bring my kids with me this time. They got older now so they will appreciate more... I also have family in LA so I get to see them also.
