About 2 years ago we did a job. med size reno, 250,000. House was 3 bedroom/ 2bth. After reno we had 3 bed 2 bath, everything was new, and larger. inspector came out, said we needed new septic, because of site conditions this would have been a $15,000 extra to the client. We all suspected the inspector was incorrect, same # of baths, same # of bedrooms, WTF. My plumber and i went down to the building dept one afternoon, the inspector and the lead inspector where both in the room, i explained the situation, the lead inspector said, "no problem your fine". The original inspector looked away as we walked out. Moral of the story.
IF YOU SUSPECT THE INSPECTOR IS WRONG, CHECK IT OUT BEFORE YOU MOVE ON IT!!!!!G

Well said, always do your "follow up". (No need to turn things into WW III). Always handle things professionally, even if the other guy isn't being professional.

Inspections:
If something ever comes up, the first thing I do is research things. I want to know the "letter of the law (code)"...on the matter. I never blindly accept (in my head) what any inspector says, without wanting to know "why", and doing my own personal research...especially if there is additional costs, and labor time involved, with changing something around.

If you have a license of any kind, it is your responsibility to know and understand the codes as much as possible. That means that we should never blindly accept what anyone says, without "double checking" on it...

I think Mike's problem was working
multiple jurisdictions with differing
amendments and interpretations.
A problem around here as well.

My refrain is always, show me
the code, cite the section, etc.

Guy walks into a bar…..and says, I can give you a job that you will make 30% on 15K.
The barkeeper looks at the guy and says, “Why, should I pay you nothing, so I can make 30% or 15K, when I can pay our local advertisement company half my net worth for no guaranteed sales?”
The guy leaves the bar shaking his head and muttering……
Dam that was funny....no....there was a connection to the post. sorry man I am just on the outside looking in.
