The police academy is extremely good for my son. I'm very happy he's there. It teaches him much more than just being a cop.

There has been a remarkable global decline in the number of children women are having, say researchers.

Their report found fertility rate falls meant nearly half of countries were now facing a "baby bust" - meaning there are insufficient children to maintain their population size.

https://www.citylab.com/equity/2018/...tm_source=feed

The Baby Boomer/Millennial housing mismatch is well known: As Boomers age, an upcoming glut of suburban and exurban homes will stand empty and unwanted, leaving both generations at a loss. Downsizing empty-nesters won’t find buyers, because Millennials want smaller homes or condos in or nearer to the city, not big four-bedroom Colonials with yards. And younger adults won’t be able to afford such single-family abodes because urban housing has become too pricey.

.......urban Boomer homeowners, in their quest to fend off “density” (and apartment renters) in their neighborhoods, have consistently—and incredibly successfully—blocked the construction of affordable housing. Such NIMBYism has hindered the building of more housing in areas desirable to Millennials, keeping stock low, prices high, and younger, less-affluent residents—as well as the working and middle classes more broadly—out.
So the govt complain that the Earths population is to big to be supported by the limited resources. And they complain that everyone is building McMansions when a little 1000sf bungalow would do.

But then they notice that tax revenue is down and they say have more kids, build bigger houses

I thought millenials were the ones propelling the whole Tiny house thing... maybe some things they didn't think of?...

And that's the short list from an actual owner... half the stuff I never even thought of... Buyer beware I guess...

Re: Birth Rates Down - AND - Millennials Not Buying Homes

One thing that is common right now is women to be so career orientated that they wake up in there 40s wondering why the hell they didn't have any kids, now that its to late.

Infertility rate is on a HUGE rise in North America.

Also have the beta male epidemic in north america, they are too busy playing video games n smoking weed all day and cant get a date. let alone take on the responsibly for a child.

I think is more of social change rather than an economic change.

That's because masculinity in and of itself is under attack. It's now considered toxic to portray masculine traits, to do manly ****. This is pushed by the idiots who think men and women are equal and the same. There is no such thing as equality. Men are naturally better at some stuff, same for women. That's why our roles within society were set in stone for thousand of years. It wasn't women who were fighting , hunting and building shelters back in the day. That is natural fit for a man.

You say that now your a sexist asshole. So it's cooler to be more effeminate I guess.

One reason I have to say about the birth rate is...having a kid or kids is not appealing to more and more people. Single life of "dink" life(dual income-no kids) makes for a easy life. More vacations and less stress.

I'll tell you what... something to be said for that... my niece and her husband have done A LOT of traveling (domestic and international) in the short time they've been married... Smart young lady with her head on straight...

They plan on kids one day, but not yet (around 30 yo)... only disadvantage is they'll be older when the kids graduate, etc. but they are living life...

We have a couple we are friends with... no kids... they've got their own plane, 3800SF house...

Makes you wonder... Looking back, didn't think kids cost THAT much...

But I wouldn't trade them for the world... especially when they come with grandkids...

I'm 35 and my wife us 34. We just welcomed our first child about month as go. I will say this will be our ONLY child as well. I don't see any reasons or benefit to having multiple kids. To much bs.

There are pro's and con's to no kids, one kid, two kids, multiple kids... if you had a girl and no boy and no-one to carry on your family name, that could be the end of the line, but nowadays depends on the ladies with the use of hyphenated or independent last names on the rise...

But I can tell you from experience of having more than one, that with it comes challenges and blessings you don't even think of... can't imagine life without them...

But at least you'll extra time/money for the one...

Re: Birth Rates Down - AND - Millennials Not Buying Homes

My brother and sister have no kids. Sister is married and her husband has kids from his previous marriage and my brother is just single. Both are more well off than me. Yes, kids cost that much.

But I am proud to be able to say that my two boys will carry on the family name. My firstborn has sired a boy who will carry on the name that much farther. My second is still in college and has a girl, they seem serious enough. Hoping for them to tie the knot and help with keeping the family name going for a long time.

That's way more important to me than a good time.
