I'll bring my 99 cent gas station coffee - or better yet my coffee from home. Lol

Coffee is a big deal to my generation for sure.

I do like craft beer and a lot of the other stuff mentioned.

You wouldn't believe the crap I was reading today about some school in Florida.

Your generation really really has to guard your children. We had to too, but not like you guys. My parents (the greatest generation) had it easy in this regard. We could stay out all day and come home when the street lights came on. Everybody stuck together, nobody had to have home security systems...none of that chit

Yep. We live in a very secluded little area, somebody would really have to want to get to where we live to mess with my kids so they can run around and play out in the field and ride bikes and do all that crap. That's why we live there

I have to teach them to be very Vigilant though, although my dad taught us to be vigilant as well.

I have had my daughter learning how to fight since she was 5. She does not have the spirit for it , it was different for my dad teaching us. My brother was not a fighter by Nature but he got pretty good at it, I took to it like a duck in water. Love contact Sports

She may not like it as much as ballet ect... but she will know how to defend herself, especially when I teach her the stuff the instructors will not teach her. She's not ready for that yet

Although the gym that I go to is a lot more aggressive, I think I will move her there next year.

By the way at least with my age group, I am not seeing this trend at all. Everyone of my friends owns their home, many of them are nice homes.

I had to change diet for health reasons. I have a thread in off topic about high blood pressure. I came close. Real close. Time to make some changes. I've already lost a belt notch which should be about 10 lbs. I'm gonna keep going.

Re: Birth Rates Down - AND - Millennials Not Buying Homes

My kids are millennials. They were taught the value of hard work pays off. I'm extremely pleased with the way things are going thus far. My job is to see to it they can take care of themselves will after we are gone.

We believe in the pay it forward college method. My wife's parents payed her tuition. We payed for our kids college, they can pay for their kids. It makes more sense. Because kids having huge debt when they graduate is insane. Either way you are paying for college. This allows the kids to really delve into a career vs. taking any job to pay their college debt.

i agree completely with your philosophy & methods....

glad to hear it works for your kids...

there are WAY TOO MANY that do not have a work ethic or care to have the responsibility of a career...

borrow money with no knowledge of its cost...

and no basic education for them to figure it out...

the thought is "i'll get a good job and pay it off"....

BS...it's all the instant gratification with out the thought of what it really costs and how will they ever pay their debt...

you & your wife did a great job mike...

I question whether we should pay for the whole thing.

My wife and I paid my wife's school. We were fine.

But I feel I can enforce the same work ethic and give them opportunities to better schools and better starts.

But I wonder what is missed not working as a part time as a waitress or pulling staples in an office or the scars and callouses earned as a laborer to pay their dues.

It's a conundrum for sure. Just have to do everything in our power to make sure they aren't snowlfakes.

Mike's kids seem like they got it down

i completely agree with working your way through college, if that is your path....

most of the college educated people i know put them selves thru while working....

i have worked with several HIGHLY skilled tradesmen, mostly carpenters, that worked their way thru college.

many stayed in the trades, because they liked working & the money.

college degree just did not pay them enough....

or it was a rat maze cubicle job....
