I only make boys.. lol

I helped my brother go out on his own. Truly down to 0 and never been happier. Having employees really held me back.

Man you're a better man than me. I would never do my own books. Or billing. Lol.

As you'll remember we had a number of men, we're down to under 10 people now. We use a lot more subs as we got more into new construction

There's so much estrogen in my house I'm about to have to start sitting down to pee. LOL. Even the dog was a girl before she died. LOL

About $700/week at ole Kroger's.. The wife and nanny do a great job at cooking from scratch or it'd be way worst.

You just don't get the warm & fuzzy feelings from this lead.

How do you respectively say "we're not the contractor you're looking for"

If they have no specific date the project must be done by, if they're within your area, if they say their budget is flexible... anything you can normally use to "get out" of setting up a free consultation (free consultations is what you advertise, so can't use "I charge $100"). If it's a bad lead, how do you tell them no?
I didn't read the previous replies, so I may be posting something that has already been said.

"(free consultations is what you advertise, so can't use"I charge $100")

The free consultation is one thing. I meet/consultation with them, the first time, for free. Then if they want an estimate, it is a $50 charge.

Otherwise I just tell them they will need to look for someone else. I try to be polite, but they may not think that. I doubt it though. I suspect they are more disappointed than offended.

Re: Bad Lead, How To Turn Them Down?

Yes that's what I do. Just give them a super high ballpark over the phone, say I'm super busy and it plays out. Be super nice though.

Or else if it's a small job say because I am a larger contractor (specify not physically large lol) I do not do jobs that small; bcause of my insurances and overhead it is hard to make the price reasonable.

Which normally really the case anyway unless it's a loyal repeat customer needs something small and your only doing it for loyalty sake then you already know they are ok to work for.
Direct then to a handyman type business and tell them your sorry.
