Just taking the normal Saturday Sunday off may come in at 9:00am Monday instead of 7:00am. I'm just too booked to take time off. Hell I worked this past Sunday to try and catch up a little.

I'm running a week behind on schedule. So we'll take friday and monday off, that's it.

Seriously, I need about 2 weeks off just to wind down and recharge. Maybe in February. I hope.

Best wishes to all. Even the wankers

I like to take off between Christmas and new years and just call it vacation for the year.

DaVinciRemodel 12-20-2011 09:30 PM

We have traditionally taken Thanksgiving till New Yearís off (11 years in a row) - just one of the perks. This will be the second year in a row now that we will not get that luxury.

Weíll take the week between Christmas and New Years and thatís it. When youíre having a record year Ė itís hard to say no! I also have a wedding to pay for in the spring

I am doing a remodel where the homeowner is not living in the home at the moment. I cleared it with my wife and I will work christmas eve til noon and take Christmas Day off. The wife gave me a look but she let it slide:thumbup:

This is why I am glad to have a bit of time. Like most around here, I've been going non-stop since summer with very few days off and even fewer complete days off. I used to do it no problem, but with the mid 40's slowly creeping up, I don't recharge as quick as I used to. That and a pulled rotator cuff and twisted elbow happening a few weeks ago, it comes at a fortuitous time. I have found that I don't heal as fast either. Of course, I've also found it takes more beer to get me drunk, so I suppose it's an ok trade off.

I am heading in tomorrow to build a bathroom vent chase and some other piddly things. Need to be ready to finish up at the first of the year. Next week will be balls to the wall again. Probably take the 26th. off though.

I have been off for several weeks now.

Other than a few piddly service calls we won't resume work untill well into march and we really won't seriously start back up untill 1st or 2nd week of april

I spend a lot of time in the winter running, swimming, lifting weights etc. Weather hasn't froze up here yet so I am still running outside.( dog(s) and I are doing 35-40 miles /week

After the 1st of the year I spend an hour or so a day on tax stuff untill that's done and I also spend an hour or so a day sorting out equipment, repairing equipment,researching/ordering new equipment, care and feeding of my mailing list etc., planning retirement investments for the new year etc. also planning to set up a new LLC this winter for family real estate investments.

Been willingly taking 3-4 months off a year like this for 25 years or so. we also virtually shut down for nearly a month in the middle of the summer for vacation, personal household projects etc.

Flying out at 9:30 this morning to NC. Visit with folks & family for a week. The day after I get back it's a glass backsplash til New Year's eve.

Somebody's going to take over the duties of derailing threads for a week for me.

We'll take Christmas Day off. Plan to work at least half day Christmas eve. Phone's been blowing up lately, so very little down time coming in the foreseeable future.

We always just take Xmas Eve and Xmas off. This year we have only remodels and additions going at Xmas, so they don't want us around. Taking off Thursday at noon and going truck shopping. Be back at it Monday.

blackbear 12-21-2011 03:13 PM

MAYBE a plain Jane f150 crew cab with the big bed. No frills. Tax guy said this is the last year accelerated depreciation on vehicles and we need some write offs. Keeping the 3/4 ton though, and IF I buy we will pay the old mans 09 off first. Don't like payments.

Straight back into work on the 3rd of Jan - definitely not complaining!

Very slow here this time of year unless your doing new construction or commercial but that market is deader than well you know.. 2013 will be a challenge for sure depending on where you do business. There's more painters here looking for work than carters got liver pills.

If you have more work consider yourself very lucky I've seen my share of very good long time contractors lose everything these last couple of years.

At 55 yrs old my body needs a break gets harder every year I hear sunny Ft Myers calling my name.

Poured and floated a 12x20 garage slab, got it all covered and insulated.

A nice short friday, and now a week off, it must be 5 oclock somewhere!:drink:

Apparently I will be working for a short time tomorrow. I didn't have the proper tool to do one small part of the job and the client is having a party Sat evening. He said it was OK not to have it there but I want it up. 3/4 hour drive each way and less than an hours worth of work ...grrrrr
