Advertising, Twilight, Expert That Actually Are Not It...

Work at a job that I started in November past year. Basement framing and trim. Framing is done by another crew. A guy is GC that only sign contract. Than there is supervisor who bring lumber and coordinate everything and than there was a carpenter 20 years old.
Customer had finally enough of them when they order a couple of 96" tall cabinets where is ceiling only 84" tall. All that they did was a huge mess by guys that didn't a day worked for any pro company in construction. Just to say in trim they make butt joints. Everything is non straight and non level. Again they had job and collect money.

IMO in our work barking (advertising) is 80% to get job. Quality is rest.

Past May I had guy call me in. He is like GC around 30 years old. Basically he did framing and installed kitchen and doors. Everything was of level. I get dizziness just walking floors there. All doors open and close at his own as walls are of level and he just followed walls to install doors. Again when I talked with him he behaved like big expert. And even worse homeowner believed it.

Customer call one person or one company. Whatsoever they do it is it. How customer can know if someone else would do it better.

You should get your contractors license, and put these hacks out of business.

Show 'em how it's done.

Owner of home said me today that GC charged him 100% mark up for cabinets. That is guys who build cabinets, between man and GC all get money. But GC get 50% of entire price of cabinets. Wow.

How did he know what the mark up was and who cares? The HO agreed to pay him. What was the problem here

If your point us being a BS artist can go a long way toward making money, I don't disagree.

I tried explaining that legit people should use some of the con man's approach to even things out and get the customer a better contractor, but it didn't go anywhere

Con man is short for confidence man. He sells based on getting the customer to have confidence in him. He's just selling a lie. It should be a lot easier to sell the truth.

So the cabinets don't fit,, by how much? I've had that happen before and just change out one cabinet for a smaller one. Is it 3" to small or 3' to small?

Can be law so. But I felt quite comfortable walking there and I'm 6'1". I think for practical purpose it is very liveable space.
