WP Contact Form

I'm looking to ad a contact form to my site and I am looking for one that is easy to use and setup. It also needs to have the catcha, I believe that's what it's called, so I can hopefully be assured a human filled it out. I plan to place it on the side column of my site.

So which WP plugin is a good one out there?

Re: WP Contact Form

Before I had a Word Press site I never had problem with junk now I have a catcha and had two customers call me and say what a PITA it was to try and fill out the catcha. Is this a WP thing? I hate filling out a catcha can never read the freaking words

I don't have that on my site, and I don't remember seeing it on very many sites at all.

Re: WP Contact Form

I haven't set it up yet for my form but I plan on putting up a simple math question for verification. Lots easier for people to fill out. Our you can ask a question such as, what is the capital of ...... Again, pretty easy for people to fill out.

I think no matter what is sued, there will eventually be away for a bot to fill out the form and any type of catcha or whatever is used for verification.

Re: WP Contact Form

I use contact form 7 and I currently don't use a captcha, but it hasn't been too much of a problem as of yet. Our traffic levels are decent and we probably get about 4-8 spammed forms per month which are easy enough to delete (compared to a little over 100 legitimate completed contact forms). I may go with a captcha soon though and I'm leaning towards PS0303's simple math equation suggestion. Hopefully the gains in reduced spam don't come at the cost of a reduction in legitimate completed forms.

Re: WP Contact Form

Personally, I think Contact Form 7 is overkill for your use. The standard wp-contact form should cover the bases. Also, avoid the captcha. Spam today is created by real people, so the only thing you will do is upset Mrs. Smith because she can't figure out if that is an "e" or a "c".

I am using Contact Form 7 and have a math question to answer. No one has used it yet so we will have to wait and see if there are any issues.

Re: WP Contact Form

Why does that askimett or whatever it is called, why is that smart enough to filter spam on a blog, but there isnt anything for the contact form?

Someone had also mentioned blocking all emails from india, that would be a good place to start.

This should law, like the do-not-call list...every email at 3:00 in the morning seems to be automated spam promising the best seo work from India...

Re: WP Contact Form

I use 'Fast Secure Contact Form' and am quite pleased with it due to it's easy to customize. The captcha can also be set for easy to read, medium, or difficult. (I have not tried contact form 7 so I cannot speak to it).

You can see one of my forms here.

Note how easy the captcha is to read.

I second that! Easy to implement and to use. This is what I use on all my WP sites.

Thats good advice. This advice comes from a guy who knows what he is talking about.
