Re: Stop Worrying About Google Updates, Instead Just Worry About ...

The most common question to come to me after discussing the Meta Description length is "What about the Title Tag? Are there any reported changes in length?"

I did some research and can not find anyone talking about it, so I will stick with the generally accepted answer of "Google typically displays the first 50–60 characters of a title tag. If you keep your titles under 60 characters, our research suggests that you can expect about 90% of your titles to display properly."

And remember, it really is not based on an exact number of character limits, because characters can vary in width.

For example, we can have 5 characters look like
iiiii
IIIII

The above are the same 5 characters, lower case and upper case but eventually the upper case will be cut off in search results due to space limitations.

Next large change was announced August 1st.

They called it Medic Update and it seems to have impacted the Health Industry and Managing Your Money industries.

We did not notice anything with any of our construction and remodeling oriented clients, and Google stated "saying there’s “no ‘fix’ for pages that may perform less well, other than to remain focused on building great content.".

Do not fall prey to any solicitations to your business indicating you may be impacted from the recent Google update since that would just be a fishing tactic to get your attention.

Will update this topic when there is anything new to be aware of.

Had a short round table conversation on this topic again, and we used a recent interview with a well respected source within Google. In other words, continue to NOT FOCUS on the individual SEO updates and FOCUS on the long term objectives of having quality fresh content.

The video is lengthy and a little friendly combativeness to get them to Clarify the details of the updates and their impacts.

It it is better to just glance at the story and realize that you do not need to be obsessed with SEO Algorithm updates.
