Stair Tread Suggestions

So I'm working with a landlord on one of his rentals and the flooring in this plane hasn't been touched, in 40 years or so, as I can surmise from the pennies I've found under the carpet, so I did the usual ripped up the carpet found planks, told the landlord here needed to add a subfloor to lay premium lvt if he didn't want it to separate, and that was fine, but when I got to the stairs he's not willing to stretch his budget for the stair caps that match the flooring, and after peeling off three layers if carpet from the stair treads they are pretty rough, a few need to be replaced but most are salvageable, the landlord is not having it when I said to stay on budget we can paint the steps and add some grip strips. He wants vinyl stair treads, any suggestions on something that isn't 50 bucks a tread and that I can easily install without having to order some special glue?

Tell him:

"If you think I'm expensive, wait until you hire the cheap guy!"

Re: Stair Tread Suggestions

It costs what it costs.

Funny how people who dont want to pay any money for something always take the easiest and most economical solution right off the table.

So price it for a decent and safe, safe being the most important part, solution that will work.

Let him decide. Don't give a quality product away for a cheap price on purpose. We all tend to do it on accident enough.

You aren't there to solve his budget problems if he isn't willing to compromise.
