Looks like the same general concept. I dabbled in a few counters/bar tops but never could get the final coat perfect. It's easier to hide a flaw in 1000 sq ft of floor

That floor looks sweet. Easy to clean, I assume.

The pics I see look like you poured some float, then waxed it up and made it shine.

Re: Metallic 100% Solid Epoxy

Um i hate to break it to ya but those floors look like crap. Metallic epoxy is one of the biggest pain in the butt products to work w especially if u dont know what u are doing. the cool part about this product is u can make it do whatever u want it to do... But u just have to know how to do it.

No matter how u bring the metallic up.. You have to bring it up or the floor looks like crap. brush marks and a mediocre appearance. Thats what i see in the pics posted here. Just being honest. And i only mean to give advice that will help u in ur future jobs.
When u work w metallics u have to bring the metallics up after they settle. u can do this by dripping xylene on the floor ten min after its down for a wicked 3d cratered effect. You can hit it w a torch if u want to bring up an area evenly or write something.. You can use a looped roller for a more consistant pattern or use a nap roller that u burned holes in first. if u want a more marbled look drop the xylene closer to 5 min and just let it spread on its own.. The longer u wait to bring up the metallic the less it will spread. oh and ps if u hit the bucket w a torch before you pour the mix u can pop most of ur bubbles. just be careful cuz the **** does catch fire.

Re: Metallic 100% Solid Epoxy

Thanks for your unsolicited "help" on my future jobs. Just a little FYI, the floors were installed how the owners wanted them installed after viewing several sample boards. Pizza hut wanted a more polished concrete look than ghetto fabulous metallic.

I know full well about how to move colors with denatured alcohol, an air hose, flipping with a trowel, etc. Hopefully the next job will meet your specifications.

Do you actually do any of the installations or is that left to your crew of Mexicans?

That's actually some really nice professional looking work.

Is there a problem with the letter "y" on your keyboard?

Re: Metallic 100% Solid Epoxy

Geez sorry i offended u. im not very pc. Lets start over.
Ok so ur sayin they wanted roller marks all on their floor? I guess im just confused as to y pizzahut would pay for metallic if they wanted polished concrete look? Why not just polish the concrete or cut their price by 75% and go with the plain epoxy?

ALL BS ASIDE.. Are those the only metallics you have done? Cuz thats what my first job looked like too. Thats why I commented. and no hard feelings i said my first job looked like crap too. i hold myself to the same standards. i mean if its black and looks like a spade ima call it a spade. im tryin to attach pics of it but it keeps giving me a crash error.. Ill try in a few min.

Re: Metallic 100% Solid Epoxy

Ok so im retarded.. Its difficult doing this crap from my phone.. Thats y i spell like im texting. Its a bad habit I need to break.... And yes i do all my own epoxy work.. No crew of mexicans. well until the pour. and the prep work..most jobs i cant pour alone.. 30 minute window is another downfall of wking w this stuff.. Most of my pours take a min of 5 guys. 1 to stir 2 to squeegie 1-2 to cut in one to backroll.. And a dripper. I hate doing it really. Its too freckin messy.. Too much prep.. And god forbid u take ur eyes off of it for one second and somebody is walkin on it. heres a before after pic of a bathroom i did.. 4 times in a row because no matter what.. I locked the door. I taped it off.. I wrote in 5 languages "do not walk on this floor".. And every day there was a freckin footprint on it!.. God was the gc pissed off. Lol

Re: Metallic 100% Solid Epoxy

Buttercup, while I may be guilty of having a ****ty cell phone camera, those are not roller marks, they are reflections of the buffet bump out ceiling. I trowel my floors.

As to why they chose metallic, they liked it better. Enough so that I am doing another one for them next week and have sold another floor off of that one. Again, hopefully that one will meet your approval.

I MAY give you a pass on the Verizon floor as we used fast set epoxy and didn't have much time to work the colors.

No need to be PC with me, the only reason I am bothering with you is the one pic I found online that may be you leads me to believe you may be attractive, as far as female paper contractors go. You still haven't answered my question about the Mexicans.

Re: Metallic 100% Solid Epoxy

Ok my bad. The pizza hut floor looks good.. I was referring to the verizon floor actually and just mis spoke. maybe it is the pic.. I know pictures never do the work justice anyway. I have been tempted several times to hire a professional photographer...but can never seem to make that happen.

I answered u about the mexicans.. U mustve missed that post. Did u see my crappy job pic that i posted? roller mark city. yeah that was a 3000 sq foot job and the whole thing looked like crap.. Then i ran short on my materials and ended up just sayin f this and i redid the whole thing out of pocket. 7 grand. but i think i learned everything there was to learn about workin with that stuff on that project.

So u googled me huh? what kinda info does this site make privi to other members? Lol. Im gonna google u too. Be rt back.

Re: Metallic 100% Solid Epoxy

Yeah i got nothin.. Cant even find my own info. so all i had to wk w was jbbs flooring.

And if u googled me and found my pic u must know Im no paper contractor.but thats prob the nicest of the gender based insults. Lol. made me laugh anyhow. i appreciate the banter.. Im actually a gc most days. Storm restoration technically. Epoxy was an accidental trade... One job led to another and before i knew it it was 50 % of my biz. Truth be told id rather be standin on a roof any day..
