Hi everyone, ive searched but couldnt find a topic on this which is surprising. We are currently looking for more carpenters to join our team since a huge boost in landed jobs that we simply cannot handle with the current team we have, so we need to hire and fast. We have used indeed in the past with great success but they make you pay after the first trial period and its expensive! Glassdoor was a pay for trial period and got zero applications. Was wondering what other routes you guys have tried, we are also posting on craigslist but mostly get drug addicts applying which we are not interested in. Any suggestions would help, thanks!
Another option would be LinkedIn and Facebook. Make a post in a local group on Facebook that you are hiring and also dp a search on LinkedIn for construction or if there is a specialty you are looking for.
I assume you have already asked your employees/carpenters to put the word out? I have found word of mouth to be a great resource. You could try Craigslist, but be prepared to do a lot of filtering in order to find qualified candidates.
I have found that hiring my employees friends and family can be counter productive and makes it easier for them to slack off or even steal so I try to get people who do not know each other preferably.
Interesting. I have had the exact opposite experience, as people have only recommended those that would make them look good. I am sure others will chime in with ideas. How expensive was using indeed?
We've had luck using an online job board such as Indeed as well as a Facebook post with a small budget attached to it to increase its visibility!
