Hello everyone,
I need some advice as I have multiple opportunities at the moment. First some background. I have been in business for two years as a general contractor and have done mostly remodels in hotel/condos. Before that I designed and built my fathers rather large house and a 1000sqft cottage.
At the moment I have two opportunities both entail partnerships. The first one is with a really good tile guy who is a really good salesman. He would do most of the work and I would do the books. He does not have the license but I know he could do the work.
The second option is the better one but it would involve three people. One is a project manage that does remodels in high level hotels and the other is a general contractor that has many c class licenses (tile, paintings, flooring, and the genceral class). The idea is a company that the general contractor uses his licenses and his guys, the other fellow would be the salesman via his contacts and I would act as the project manager, not my license. We would be doing high end remodeling and running multiple jobs at the same time. The sales volume has to be high enough for three partners.
All the players I don't know longer than year.
The last one is just keep building my business just myself and hopefully break into custom homes sooner than later.
Any advice on starting a partnership? What to look out for? Be crazy and try all three.
Thanks
