Epoxy Aisle Way Installation

A manufacturer in eastern Pennsylvania contacted us for epoxy floor system for a 1200 square foot aisle way. They wanted a coating that would blend into their surrounding floor, that would also offer a slip resistant surface. The challenge was the condition of the floor. It was severely deteriorated and corroded. The customer had opted for an epoxy floor system, so there woulodn't be enough material to fill in the voids and patch the floor together. So the first step was to grind down the top 1/4" of the existing concrete for a level substrate. Additionally, drains were in the area, so we feather edged around the drains. Total hours estimated for surface prep: 56 hours. The epoxy installation was a 3 coat process. The first step was an 8mil epoxy primer. Once cured, the 2nd step was a 20mil pigmented epoxy intermediate coat. The intermediate coat was tinted using the concrete dust created from grinding the floor. This allowed us to create a pigmented floor that matched the existing floor in the surrounding area. Finally, the 3rd coat was a moisture cured aliphatic urethane topcoat. The aliphatic urethane is abrassion resistant, and helps protect the epoxy from excessive traffic and damge. Total hours estimated for resinous floor installation: 48 hours.PennCoat, Incwww.PennCoatInc.com
